When considering the move there are several important factors to take into account which may affect your quotation. We at Apley will help as much as possible with any queries you may have.
|
What volume of possessions is to be moved? Is the date of the move flexible? Are your possessions fully insured? Do you require a packing service? What is the access to, and within your property? |

Possibly the worst scenario is that the van coming to France to collect your possessions is not big enough for the job!
However, it is also false economy to employ a van that is too large for the purpose, as this may incur unnecessary additional expenses on ferries, etc. (Which can be substantial).
The most cost-effective and reliable solution is to make an inventory of your possessions. We provide asn on-line form for this purpose which will be automatically e-mailed to us and forwarded to removal companies, together with any other relevant information. top

The more flexible your moving date, the greater the chance of obtaining a "return load" or "part load", which will obviously save money.
Apley will explore this possibility in all suitable cases.
Obviously, once a move is agreed with the removals company it becomes fixed. top

Unfortunately, accidents can happen and it is essential that you fully insure your possessions. The removals company will do this for you. All quotations provided via Apley will include insurance as requested.
However, it is also important to insure any individual items or set of items with a high value to ensure that you receive full compensation in the event of an accident or damage.
We strongly advice you to fully declare the insurance values in Section 2 of the "quotation" form.top

Most reputable UK removals companies will either provide you with packaging materials, (boxes, bubble-wrap, etc), or will pack your materials for you.
All moves arranged via Apley will offer these services, whether you live in France or the UK. It is, however, important to decide whether you require either of these services at the time you request a quotation. top

Apley can arrange for your goods to be stored, for either short or long term in modern, in purpose-built containerised storage facilities.
You can request this service in section 2 of the "quotation" form. top

A 17 tons removals lorry is roughly the same size as a double-decker bus! It is not only the width but also the height that must be taken into account. In extreme cases it may be necessary to use a smaller van to ferry your possessions between the house and the lorry.
Another possible problem is that the van may obstruct or block a road - particularly in a village or town in France - and formal permission may be required. This would be your responsibility.
Within your property - at either end of the move - you should also consider whether there may be problems moving bulky possessions. (For example, the new spiral staircase may have created more space in the lounge, but might prove to be an impassable obstacle to the large French chest of drawers in your bedroom.) top

If you wish to move any individual item that will require more than two persons to reasonably be expected to lift, (taking into account stairs, etc), please use the relevant spaces on the "quotation" form.
Similarly, if you envisage that any special equipment may be required to move a particular item, please also mention this. (See summary below.) top

Apley are here to help you avoid any problems associated with your move. If you have any queries whatsoever regarding the move then please use the "notes" space in Section 2 of the "quotation" form or use our query form. We shall be happy to help, and our services cost you nothing. top
